- Mahatari Vandan Yojana brings a big change in the lives of rural women
The Chhattisgarh government’s Mahtari Vandan Yojana and self-help group initiatives are bringing about significant changes in the lives of rural women. These schemes have not only provided financial support to women but have also pushed them towards self-reliance. Mrs. Amrika Banjare of Malkharoda Gram Panchayat, Sakti district, is a prime example. She was previously a simple housewife, but now, through her hard work and the support of the schemes, she has become self-reliant.
Amrika Banjare explains that she is associated with the Aastha Self-Help Group. With a loan from the group, she opened a small ration shop in her home, which provides her with a regular income. She also receives monthly assistance of one thousand rupees under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. She uses this money to expand her business, her children’s education, and household expenses. While saving was previously difficult, she is now able to save a small amount each month for her children’s future.
She says these schemes have given her confidence and the strength to move forward. Now she is taking good care of her family and is serving as an inspiration to other women. Other women in the district are also becoming self-reliant and improving their lives by joining these schemes.
