This technique improves soil fertility and controls weeds.

Mukesh Kujur of Gram Panchayat Bhitghara, Bagicha Development Block, has demonstrated that new thinking and modern technology can make farming more profitable. By cultivating multi-crops of tomatoes, cabbage, maize, cucumbers, and marigolds on 25 acres, he is creating a new model of success. If you too want to learn such new techniques, then definitely come to the Krishi Kranti Expo in Kunkuri (Jashpur) on March 23-25.

Bhitghara farmer Mukesh Kujur has made his 25 acre farm a model of innovation. The farmer is also encouraging other farmers of the district by doing multi-crop farming in his fields. Farmer Mukesh has proved through new thinking and experiments that farming can be made more profitable with prudence. He told that he cultivates tomatoes with drip and mulching for irrigation. He has also planted maize and marigold flowers in between the fields, which gives him additional income. He told that under the advice and guidance of agricultural scientists, he also knows which pesticides to use and in what quantity.

Farmer Mukesh explained that the advantage of using drip irrigation is that less water is required for irrigation. This also delivers fertilizer directly to the plants. A good harvest can be achieved with less water. Farmer Mukesh explained that he grows cucumbers in the rainy season and corn in the summer. He said that he earns a good income from both cucumber and corn production.
