- Government-run schemes are making rural women economically empowered and self-reliant.
In Chhattisgarh, state government schemes aimed at empowering and self-reliant rural women are consistently yielding positive results. In this context, Mrs. Indraniya Bai of Lalpur village, Gaurela development block, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district, has written an inspiring success story through her courage, hard work, and determination.
Indraniya Bai is an active member of the Lakshmi Self-Help Group, which is associated with the state government’s ambitious Bihan Yojana. Under this scheme, she took a loan of ₹185,000 and started a goat rearing business. Despite limited resources and challenges, she remained resolute and continued her work with dedication. Today, she owns 25 goats of indigenous breeds like Singrauli and Totapuri. Her hard work and ingenuity have resulted in her annual income exceeding ₹150,000. With this achievement, she has earned herself the title of “Lakhpati Didi.”

This business is not only strengthening her financial situation but also making her self-reliant and self-confident. Indraniya Bai is now moving forward to expand her work. She wants to build a modern cattle shed and plans to adopt improved breeds to increase production. She also aims to incorporate Siroti Ajmer goats into her business. Indraniya Bai’s success demonstrates that with proper guidance, support from government schemes, and personal hard work, anyone can bring about significant changes in their lives.
The Chhattisgarh government, especially those implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, is playing a vital role in economically empowering rural women and making them self-reliant. Through the Bihan Yojana, women are not only receiving financial support but also gaining self-respect and a new identity in society.
