 Major progress towards establishment of medical college in Jashpur

  • Expert team inspected, admission to 50 MBBS seats likely from this academic session
  • Health services and medical education will get a new dimension

In order to fulfill Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai’s visionary initiative and resolve to expand health facilities, work on establishing a medical college in Jashpur district is progressing rapidly. In a historic achievement in the field of medical education and health services, a medical college with 50 MBBS seats is expected to open in Jashpur this academic session.
    In accordance with Chief Minister Shri Sai’s announcement, the process of establishing a nursing college, a physiotherapy college, and a naturopathy college in Jashpur is also underway, along with the medical college. The opening of these institutions will not only provide high-level medical education to students in the district, but will also strengthen the region’s health services.

  • The expert team inspected the arrangements

    On June 5th, an expert team from Raipur and Ambikapur Medical Colleges arrived in Jashpur to review preparations for the opening of the medical college and evaluate alternative arrangements. The team inspected the District Hospital in Jashpur for the medical college hospital and the Polytechnic College campus in Jhargaon for conducting educational activities.
    During the inspection, the experts took a detailed look at the available infrastructure, classrooms, laboratories, hospital facilities, and other necessary arrangements and provided necessary guidance to the concerned officials so that all preparations could be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

  • Regional health services will benefit

    The operation of the medical college will provide better healthcare facilities to the people of Jashpur and surrounding tribal and remote areas. The availability of specialist doctors will increase, the health infrastructure will be strengthened, and the need to refer seriously ill patients to larger cities will also be reduced.

  • Opportunities for local youth

    With the establishment of the medical college, students from Jashpur and surrounding districts will no longer have to travel far for medical education. The availability of quality medical education locally will provide young people in the region with better opportunities to become doctors.

    The inspection team included Dr. Rajesh Srivastava, Dr. Abhijeet Kumar Dewan, Dr. Abha Ekka, Dr. S.P. Kujur, Dean of the proposed Jashpur Medical College, and Dr. B.R. Sidar, Medical Superintendent of the Medical College Hospital. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. G.S. Jatra, Civil Surgeon and Chief Hospital Superintendent Dr. K.D. Kashyap, Hospital Consultant Mr. Rajesh Kumar Kuril, and other related officials were present.
    The establishment of the medical college will prove to be an important milestone in the development of Jashpur district and will open new possibilities in the fields of health and education.
