Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur has been awarded the prestigious “Citation of Honour” by the Hon’ble Shri Raman Deka, Governor of Chhattisgarh for its consistent and commendable contribution in the field of voluntary blood donation and community welfare.
The award was presented during a special felicitation ceremony held at Chhattisgarh Mandapam, Lok Bhavan, Raipur, on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day. The ceremony was organized by the Red Cross Society. This award recognizes HNLU’s continued efforts to promote voluntary blood donation as a vital humanitarian service and to develop a sense of social responsibility among students and staff.
For years, HNLU’s Legal and Social Services Committee, chaired by Dr. Kaumudi Challa, and the Pro Bono Club, led by Dr. Parvesh Rajput, have regularly organized blood donation camps and public awareness programs. These initiatives have inspired the university community to actively participate in this life-saving campaign.

These programs have not only provided vital support to public health efforts, but have also strengthened the university’s engagement with society beyond the classroom.
These social initiatives of the University have been inspired by the vision of Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, who emphasized connecting legal education to society and integrating community service with academic excellence. Under his leadership, HNLU has implemented numerous impactful programs of social and developmental significance, further strengthening the role of legal education in nation-building and public service.
On behalf of the University, Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Registrar-in-Charge, received the Citation of Honor from the Honorable Governor at the ceremony. Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Mr. M.K. Raut (IAS, Retd.), Chief Executive Officer of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Chhattisgarh, and Dr. Rupal Purohit, General Secretary.
The HNLU family calls this honor a significant recognition of the university’s long-standing commitment to social service, public welfare, and human values. The university is committed to promoting initiatives that make meaningful contributions to society and to inspiring the next generation to embrace a spirit of civic responsibility and compassionate service.
