- 11,470 crore Greenco Pumped Storage Project will be 1920 MW power generation
project will give new impetus to employment, energy security and green development in the region.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Monday conducted an aerial survey of the 500 MW solar park of Neemuch and the Greenco pump storage project under construction at village Khimla. After the survey, the Chief Minister was given detailed information about the project’s progress, technical features and energy production capacity through a power point presentation.
The 1920 MW capacity Gandhisagar Pumped Storage Project being developed by Greenco Group at a cost of around Rs 11,470 crore is among the largest projects of its kind in the country. The project will have an energy storage capacity of 10,326 MW per hour. Chief Minister Dr. Describing it as an important achievement for the energy sector of Madhya Pradesh, Yadav said that it will strengthen the energy security of the region and promote green energy.

Under the project, the existing reservoir of Gandhisagar and the upper reservoir being constructed at Khimla will be used for power generation using pumped storage technology. Water will be reused in this process and no additional water will be required except for minimal losses due to evaporation. 7 bi-directional turbine units of 240 MW and 2 of 120 MW are being installed in the project.
At present more than three thousand people are getting employment daily in the construction work of Khimla project. On its completion, industrial development, employment generation and clean energy generation will get a new impetus in the region.
