- There is a need to work together for self-reliance in seed production: Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam
Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam today transferred an incentive amount of Rs 8 crore 01 lakh 97 thousand for the financial year 2024-25 to 3556 seed producing farmers of the state through DBT directly into their accounts online at a program organized by Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation in Nava Raipur. This amount was provided to the beneficiaries under Mandi Nidhi. On this occasion, hundreds of farmers from the state were connected to the processing centers through video conferencing. Minister Shri Netam discussed with the seed producing farmers and encouraged them for quality seed production and also released a book based on the one year achievements of the corporation. Agriculture Production Commissioner Mrs. Shahla Nigar was specially present in the program.Agriculture Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam, while addressing the program, said that the farmers have produced seeds with tireless hard work and diligence. To ensure that they get the fruits of their hard work, the incentive amount was transferred directly to their accounts. He appealed to the farmers to take up pulses, oilseeds, millets, vegetables and other income-generating crops besides paddy. He said that paddy cultivation should be avoided during summers because it requires a lot of water. We also need to pay attention to maintaining environmental balance. He said that instead of paddy, farmers should cultivate pulses and oilseeds. This maintains the fertility of the soil and also reduces water consumption.

Minister Shri Netam stated that the government’s credibility is linked to the quality of seeds. He appealed to seed-producing farmers to produce quality seeds with honesty. He told the farmers that the state will become self-sufficient in seed production through their dedication and hard work. The government’s commitment to farmers is a priority. He emphasized the need to work together to advance Chhattisgarh as an agriculturally productive state.Chairman of Seed Corporation Mr. Chandrahas Chandrakar said that it is a matter of pride that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai and guidance of Minister Mr. Netam, the corporation is providing incentive money to seed producing farmers on time. Efforts will be made in future also to honour the hard work of farmers on time. He said that our government has increased the respect of farmers in the country by purchasing 21 quintals of paddy per acre from farmers at the rate of Rs. 3100 per quintal. He also placed some demands on behalf of the farmers on this occasion, which Minister Mr. Netam assured to consider seriously. Managing Director of State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation Mr. Ajay Agarwal gave information about the objectives of the program.On this occasion, Minister Netam spoke with farmers from Kawardha, Ambikapur, and Raipur districts to inquire about their well-being. The farmers expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Minister Ramvichar Netam, and Corporation Chairman Chandrahas Chandrakar for providing incentives for the year 2024-25.
