Chief Secretary Shri Vikassheel today organized a Collector’s Conference to review the works of Jal Jeevan Mission in the state through video conference from Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan. The Chief Secretary took information from the District Collectors about the works of Jal Jeevan Mission in their districts. The Chief Secretary asked the Collectors to take personal interest in providing water to every household under Jal Jeevan Mission. Complete the schemes being run for providing tap water to people’s homes. Get the completed schemes physically verified and make the pending payments of the schemes transferred to the Panchayats soon. The Chief Secretary has clearly said that delay in the works of Jal Jeevan Mission will not be tolerated.
The Collectors’ Conference discussed solar-based projects and CREDA-related tap water projects, and provided necessary guidelines. During the conference, instructions were given to expedite payments for completed and transferred projects. Collectors were asked to complete projects with resource-related problems using local funds.
The Chief Secretary directed the collectors to take action to get the works of Jal Jeevan Mission done by engineers from other departments where there is a shortage of sub-engineers. In the conference, instructions were given to ensure that the District Water and Sanitation Committee holds regular monthly meetings. He said that the proceedings of each meeting should be uploaded on the departmental portal on time and regular monitoring of Jal Jeevan Mission should be ensured. He said that all the collectors should work in mission mode with clear assessment, better planning and effective coordination, so that every family in the state can be provided with tap water in a timely manner.
In the meeting, officials were asked about 55 schemes that are supplying less than 7 days of water per LPCD. Present at the meeting were Mr. Abdul Qaiser Haq, Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department, along with officials from the Public Health Engineering Department and the Jal Jeevan Mission. Collectors and district-level departmental officials from all districts participated via video conference.
