The Women and Child Development Department is conducting a series of awareness programs to make Chhattisgarh child marriage-free. In this series, an awareness program was organized for girl students at the Government Higher Secondary School, Karsi, under the direction of Surajpur District Collector, Mrs. Rena Jamil, and the guidance of the District Program Officer, Women and Child Development Department.
At the event, District Child Protection Officer Mr. Manoj Jaiswal provided information on preventing child marriage, child rights, education, and the safety of girls. He stated that education is the strongest foundation for girls’ empowerment and a secure future. He urged students to continue studying to achieve their goals and play an active role in preventing child marriages in the area.
Providing information about the child helpline 1098, the women’s helpline 181, and the emergency service 112, she said that these services can be used in any adverse situation. While making the students aware of safe and unsafe touch, she explained the four safety principles: “No, Go, Tell, and FIR.” She also provided information about the provisions of the POCSO Act and the online safety of children.

Mrs. Farzana Ansari of Mission Shakti encouraged girls to become self-reliant by becoming educated. She explained the objectives of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign and urged them to prevent female foeticide and use the 181 helpline in cases of domestic violence.
During the program, poster, Rakhi, and Rangoli-making competitions were held, in which students participated enthusiastically. First, second, and third-place winners were awarded, while other participants received consolation prizes. At the program’s conclusion, all attendees were sworn in to make Surajpur child marriage-free.
