 Public Health Engineering Department alert to provide clean and regular drinking water during summers

Amidst the scorching heat, humidity and the ever-increasing water crisis, the team of the Public Health Engineering Department is on the ground with full commitment to maintain a smooth drinking water supply in rural areas. The team of the Public Health Engineering Department is working diligently to provide clean and regular drinking water to the villagers during the summer season. The department is working promptly to provide uninterrupted drinking water to forest areas and remote villages. The state government has directed all the technical staff and hand pump mechanics of the department to immediately resolve faulty hand pumps, pipeline related problems and obstacles in the drinking water supply.

On the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister and Public Health Engineering Minister Shri Arun Sao, department officials are regularly visiting rural areas to inspect the ground situation of drinking water schemes. Despite the scorching heat and difficult conditions, the department’s team is working day and night to provide relief to villagers from water scarcity. The department is continuously monitoring schemes implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission in remote areas to ensure uninterrupted access to clean and safe drinking water for every rural household. Departmental teams are actively working to ensure the availability of clean, safe, and regular drinking water to every household, even during the summer.

Along with the regular operation of schemes implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the department is also raising awareness among villagers about water conservation. People are being urged to keep taps closed when not needed, prevent water misuse, and conserve water. The department is also spreading the message that water is not just a necessity today, but a precious resource for future generations, and its conservation is everyone’s collective responsibility.

During their visits, the Public Health Engineering Department team is meeting with members of village water and sanitation committees, placing special emphasis on increasing public participation in the sustainable operation of the schemes. Villagers are being made aware of the importance of collecting water taxes, so that the schemes can be maintained and operated uninterruptedly for a long time. The department is also emphasizing the construction of soak pits near each household’s tap connections, ensuring water conservation and cleanliness.
