Use of nano fertilizers has increased paddy production and reduced input costs – Farmer Niranjan

By adopting modern agricultural techniques and innovations, farmers are not only increasing production but also reducing farming costs. Mr. Niranjan Sidar, a progressive farmer from Dudhipali village in the Basna development block of Mahasamund district, achieved excellent results last year by scientifically using nano DAP and nano urea in his paddy crop. Mr. Sidar explained that he began his paddy cultivation by treating seeds with nano DAP. He then sprayed nano DAP and nano urea during the crop’s growth stage. The use of modern fertilizer technology resulted in relatively less disease and pest infestation on his crop, maintaining a healthy and robust crop. The quality of the paddy also improved. He explained that the use of nano fertilizers has reduced farming costs. The convenience of mixing nano fertilizers with pesticides eliminates the need for separate labor, saving both time and labor.
The Agriculture Department is continuously educating farmers about the scientific use of nano fertilizers. According to the department, Nano DAP can be used for seed treatment, seedling treatment, and spraying during the early growth stages. Nano Urea is used at various stages to meet the crop’s nutritional needs. Using the quantities and methods recommended by experts increases yield, improves quality, and reduces costs. Experts suggest that for seed treatment with Nano DAP, thoroughly mix 5 ml of Nano DAP solution into 1 kg of seed. Let it dry in the shade for 20 minutes before sowing. To treat seedlings with Nano DAP, prepare a solution of 5 ml of Nano DAP in 1 liter of water. Let the seedlings soak in this solution for 20 minutes before planting. The first spray should be done when the crop is 30-35 days old and has developed good leaves. Spray Nano DAP and Nano Urea Plus onto the leaves using a sprayer at the rate of 4-5 ml in 1 liter of water. The second spray, 25-30 days after the first spray, before flowering, spray Nano Urea Plus onto the leaves using a sprayer at the rate of 4-5 ml per 1 liter of water. Nano fertilizers can also be mixed with pesticides. However, they should not be mixed with copper-containing insecticides and fungicides.
