- Chhattisgarh Tribal Research and Training Institute gets ‘Certificate of Excellent Performance’*
- Received high praise at the national workshop.
Chhattisgarh has once again made an indelible mark at the national level in the field of tribal culture and heritage preservation and tribal research and development. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, has awarded the Chhattisgarh Tribal Research and Training Institute (CG TRTI) a Certificate of Excellence for its outstanding performance.
The award was presented at the closing session of the two-day National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes (TRTs) in the country, held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on July 7 and 8, 2026. Representatives from Tribal Research Institutes (TRTs) across 29 states participated in the workshop.
- Glorious presence of Union Ministers and experts
The two-day workshop was attended by Shri Jual Urao, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Government of India, Shri Durgadas Uikey, Minister of State, NITI Aayog, Shri Bala Subramaniam, Member, NITI Aayog, Shri Nityanand Gond, Minister for Tribal Development, Government of Odisha, and Smt. Ranjana Chopra, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, as special guests. Addressing the participating institutions, the guests highlighted the main objectives of the workshop.
- Discussion on future strategies and modern technologies
During the workshop, experts deliberated on topics such as the functioning of tribal research institutes, research for tribal development, modernization, GIS, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the innovation ecosystem. In addition, detailed discussions were held on the need for policy- and planning-oriented research, challenges, and future strategies, and the work done by TRTs in various states was reviewed.
- Chhattisgarh party registered active participation
Under the guidance and direction of Mr. Sonmani Bora, Principal Secretary of the Tribal Development Department of the Chhattisgarh Government, the Chhattisgarh team played an active role in this national workshop. Chhattisgarh was represented by the Institute’s Director, Hina Animesh Netam, Joint Director, Mrs. Gayatri Netam, Assistant Research Officer, Dr. Anil Virulkar, and Mr. Yogendra Nishad.
- Preservation of tribal culture continues
On the concluding day of the workshop, from the stage, Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, Mrs. Ranjana Chopra handed over this certificate of appreciation to Chhattisgarh Tribal Research and Training Institute as an institution performing excellently for the preservation of tribal culture and heritage and tribal research and development.
It is noteworthy that under the leadership and direction of Principal Secretary Shri Sonmani Bora, Chhattisgarh Tribal Research and Training Institute is continuously and effectively carrying out research and training programmes related to social, cultural, art skills and economic development based on the tribes of the state as well as the work of preservation and promotion of tribal culture.
