Governor Shri Deka laid special emphasis on water conservation, natural farming and public welfare schemes in Gariaband district.

Governor Shri Ramen Deka held a meeting with officials via video conferencing at Lok Bhavan today and discussed various important topics, including health, education, sanitation, water conservation, tree plantation and environmental enhancement, organic farming, tuberculosis eradication, road safety, drug de-addiction, and development of specially disadvantaged tribes.
    The Governor stated that for better results in development projects, officials should regularly visit the field and stay informed about the ground situation. He emphasized the need to effectively implement development projects with the cooperation of public representatives. Emphasizing
    the priority given to water conservation in the adopted village, the Governor said that water harvesting systems should be developed in all government buildings and Prime Minister’s residences through public participation. He directed the preparation of a detailed roadmap for this purpose. He urged prioritizing the conservation and repair of old ponds, check dams, and other water sources in the district. He also directed that large farmers be encouraged to construct ponds on their farms and that small and medium-sized farmers be involved in water conservation activities.
    The Governor directed to effectively stop illegal sand mining and ensure scientific and systematic mining. He stated that this would improve the natural condition of rivers and help increase groundwater levels. On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5th, the Governor directed to organize a massive tree plantation program in all government offices, hospitals, institutions, and residential areas in the district under the “One Tree for Mother” campaign.
    Discussing organic and natural farming in the meeting, the Governor encouraged farmers to adopt natural farming and hydroponics. He emphasized the need to promote value addition to products produced through natural farming, saying this would increase farmers’ income and provide chemical-free food to the public. He also emphasized the need to promote horticulture and Rabi crops along with paddy.
    The Governor directed to conduct pilot projects in the areas of education, health, and sanitation in the district. He reviewed the results of board examinations and emphasized the need for continuous improvement in the quality of education. He directed to equip crematoriums with all necessary facilities and promote innovations under the Swachh Bharat Mission. He also stressed on developing new models for better use of waste material.
    The Governor enquired about the activities of Lakhpati Didi’s working in the district and gave instructions to encourage the Didi’s doing excellent work. While reviewing the Prime Minister’s TB Free Campaign, the Governor said that proper treatment of people suffering from multiple diseases should be ensured. He also gave instructions to pay special attention to the health and education of specially backward tribes.
    The Governor directed a comprehensive public awareness campaign to prevent road accidents. He called for strict action against drunk drivers, random checks, and regular monitoring of de-addiction centers. He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts by the district administration and police to combat the drug problem.
    The Governor called for special attention to the expansion of electricity, water, roads, and other infrastructure in villages inhabited by marginalized tribes. He directed that various schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Mantri Jan Man Yojana (PMJV) should significantly improve the living standards of these communities.
        During the meeting, the Governor emphasized the need to expand the Red Cross membership campaign. He directed that the Red Cross organize blood donation camps and awareness programs on World Blood Donor Day to encourage more people to donate blood. The meeting was attended by the Governor’s Under Secretary, Ms. Nidhi Sahu and Mr. Rupendra Kavi, Gariaband District Collector, Mr. B.S. Uikey, and officials from various departments.
