 Mahatari Vandan Yojana is becoming a new identity of economic self-reliance: Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai today released the 29th installment of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana from the Chief Minister’s residence office in the capital Raipur and transferred an amount of Rs 626.25 crore to the bank accounts of more than 66 lakh mothers and sisters of the state through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade was present on this occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, while extending his best wishes to the mothers and sisters of the state, said that the Mahatari Vandan Yojana has become a new identity of women’s respect, self-reliance and economic independence. He said that the state government is continuously working with the resolve to increase the economic participation of women and make them self-reliant. He said that with today’s installment, a total amount of Rs 18,805.83 crore has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of women in 29 installments under the scheme so far.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that under the leadership of the illustrious Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a massive campaign for the empowerment of women is underway across the country, and the Chhattisgarh government is implementing this pledge with full commitment. He said that during his visits to various districts of the state, mothers and sisters themselves tell him that the funds received under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana have brought positive changes in their lives. Many women have started small businesses with this amount, some have taken up sewing and embroidery and self-employment, while a large number of families have used it to meet their children’s education, health, and daily needs. He said that these experiences of women are proof of the scheme’s true success and its far-reaching social impact.

Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the state government is continuously working to increase women’s income, empower them economically, and advance them towards self-reliance through various schemes such as the Mahtari Vandan Yojana and “Lakhpati Didi.” He directed officials to expedite the e-KYC process and ensure that 100% of eligible women receive the benefits of the scheme. He also directed them to prioritize this task, especially in the Bastar division.

It is noteworthy that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has been implemented in the state from March 1, 2024. Under the scheme, eligible married women aged 21 years or older are provided financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month directly into their bank accounts. Through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, women receive regular financial support, while also strengthening activities such as family nutrition, children’s education, health, prevention of malnutrition and anemia, and self-employment.
