- The government’s special emphasis is on making the education system quality, transparent and student-centric.
- Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav held a press conference on the achievements of the School Education Department, gave an account of the work done in the last two years.
A press conference was held today at the Chhattisgarh Samvad auditorium in Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur, to highlight the School Education Department’s activities and achievements over the past two years. The press conference was jointly addressed by School Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav and School Education Department Secretary Dr. Kamalpreet Singh. During the conference, information was provided about the department’s work and achievements in various areas, including improving the quality of education, availability and promotion of teachers, the recruitment process, student facilities, school infrastructure, multilingual education, and technology-based monitoring.
School Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav said that in the last two years, many important steps have been taken by the School Education Department towards making the education system more qualitative, transparent, technology-enabled, inclusive and student-centric.
- Rationalization of schools and availability of teachers
As per the provisions of National Education Policy-2020 and Right to Education Act-2009, 10,538 schools were adjusted. 15,165 teachers and principals were adjusted through rationalization. Teachers have been filled in 453 teacherless schools and teachers have been arranged in 4,729 single teacher schools. Significant achievement has also been registered in the field of promotion of teachers. Principals have been promoted on a total of 2,813 posts, 1,335 in T cadre and 1,478 in E cadre. 1,798 lecturers have been promoted in T cadre and more than 7,000 promotions have been done on various posts in the last two years.
- Teacher recruitment gains momentum
School Education Minister Mr. Yadav stated that 848 posts of special educators for children with disabilities have been approved. In 2025, 62 posts were filled through direct recruitment. In the past two years, direct recruitment has been conducted for 2,104 teaching positions. Additionally, direct recruitment examinations are underway for 5,000 teaching positions. Contract recruitment is also underway for more than 3,000 positions in Swami Atmanand and Vivekananda schools.
- Transparent and technology-based recruitment process

Minister Shri Yadav informed that a state-level online computer-based test (CBT) has been initiated for recruitment to academic and non-academic contract positions in Swami Atmanand School of Excellence, Swami Vivekananda School of Excellence, and other government institutions. The contract recruitment process is underway for 3,066 contract positions, including 1,895 in Swami Atmanand School of Excellence and 1,171 in Swami Vivekananda School of Excellence. Emphasis has been placed on transparency in recruitment through CBT and the availability of exam results in a short time.
- New education policy and innovation in textbooks
The National Education Policy-2020 was implemented in schools from July 15, 2024. The alphabet has been included in Hindi textbooks for grades 1 and 2. Textbooks have been developed for grades 1 and 2 in 16 local and 4 interstate languages. NCERT textbooks for grades 1, 2, 3, and 6 have been adapted. Reading materials have also been developed for students in grades 3 to 8.
- Promoting multilingual education
Mr. Yadav said that Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country to conduct language mapping. In the Bastar division, 2,700 teachers were trained to use children’s languages in the classroom. In the Surguja division, 2,368 teachers were trained. The process of developing textbooks for grades 1 through 3, adapted for Chhattisgarhi, Gondi, Halbi, and Sadri, as mediums of instruction, is underway.
- Online attendance and administrative digitization
The Education Minister stated that to ensure regular teacher attendance and academic discipline, attendance systems have been implemented through Aadhaar-based biometrics and the TK app. Approximately 85 percent of teachers are registering their attendance online daily through the TK app. Administrative tasks have been simplified and made more transparent through systems such as a leave management portal, a paperless system, and online property statements.
- Free textbooks, bicycles and uniforms to students
Mr. Yadav informed that 45 lakh 33 thousand 261 students were benefited from the initiative of providing textbooks to students of classes 1 to 10 before the start of the session. Scanning system was implemented for distribution and verification of textbooks and initiative was taken to publish textbooks in 16 dialects besides Hindi-English. He said that 1 lakh 62 thousand 827 girls were benefited under the free Saraswati Cycle Scheme. Free uniforms were provided to students of classes 1 to 8, which benefited 28 lakh 63 thousand 786 children.
- Improvement in exam results

Education Minister Mr. Yadav stated that in the 2025-26 academic year, there was an increase of approximately 2 percent in the results of class 10th and 12th examinations. Special emphasis has been placed on improving exam results through pre-exam reviews, blueprint development and teaching, parent-teacher meetings, and centralized examinations.
- Saturday Bag-less Day leads to holistic development of students
Mr. Yadav said that every Saturday, activities are organized for students to engage in a stress- and fear-free environment, including sports, yoga and exercise, local art and culture, birth anniversaries of great personalities, festivals, and historical dates. Emphasis is being placed on students’ continuous development through speeches, essays, songs, stories, and folk tales.
- Special emphasis on expansion of school infrastructure
The Education Minister stated that 504 new schools were approved in the last three years. The budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year includes the construction of new schools for 700 schools without buildings. Approval was given for 2,583 new additional classrooms between 2023 and 2026. An amount of ₹52.39 million was approved for the construction and repair of school toilets, and construction of 302 toilets has been completed.
- A provision of Rs 100 crore for 150 Swami Vivekananda Schools of Excellence
Mr. Yadav stated that a provision of ₹100 crore has been made in the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year for the construction and operation of 150 Swami Vivekananda Schools of Excellence. Work is underway to establish at least one Swami Vivekananda School of Excellence in each development block. Through these schools, emphasis is being placed on preparing students for future challenges.
- Expansion of education in Bastar and tribal areas
Education Minister Shri Yadav stated that under the Niyat Nella Nar, primary schools have been established in 97 percent of villages in the six districts of Bastar Division. 13,817 teachers in Bastar Division have been trained through bilingual textbooks. Education is being provided in teacherless and single-teacher schools through 573 Shiksha Ambassadors. 48 closed schools have been reopened, and 36 new schools have been started.
- Online monitoring through AI based Vidya Samiksha Kendra
Mr. Yadav stated that an AI-based Vidya Samiksha Kendra has been established for effective online monitoring of the education system. Through this, various schemes, including infrastructure, physical facilities, PM Poshan, BHEL, and THSC, are being monitored. The call center has collected feedback from teachers, parents, cluster coordinators, and officials through over one lakh calls. Barcode-based tracking of textbook distribution has saved the government approximately 40 crore rupees.
- Residential facility for students belonging to special backward tribes
The Education Minister stated that under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, residential hostel facilities are being developed near schools for children from specific backward tribes. More than 33,000 children are enjoying the benefits of residential facilities in the 156 residential schools and hostels operating in the state. Forty PVTG hostels have been approved in 13 districts, and construction work has already begun on 21 of them.
- Special focus on overall development of tribal areas
Mr. Yadav stated that under the Prime Minister’s Dharti Aba Tribal Village Excellence Campaign, emphasis is being placed on the holistic and balanced development of tribal areas. The School Education Department is working to ensure the availability of quality education, school infrastructure, and hostel facilities in these areas. 42 hostels have been approved in 13 districts.
- Continuous efforts towards strengthening the education system
During the press conference, the department’s various plans and achievements were highlighted, highlighting that the School Education Department’s continuous efforts are to ensure quality and equal opportunity education for every student in the state. To this end, adequate teacher availability, transparent recruitment and promotion, modern infrastructure, multilingual education, digital technology, essential educational materials for students, and access to education in tribal and remote areas are being prioritized. The broad objective of these initiatives by the School Education Department is to make the state’s education system quality-oriented, transparent, technology-enabled, inclusive, and student-centered.
