 State-wide public campaign against drug abuse begins, Drug Free India Week to continue till June 26

  • Awareness programs will be held on the theme “Drug Free India Campaign – Identity of Developed India”.

The Chhattisgarh Social Welfare Department is organizing Drug-Free India Week across the state from June 17th to June 26th. During this period, extensive public awareness programs will be organized in collaboration with various departments to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The campaign aims to create awareness among youth and the general public about the ill effects of drug abuse and inspire them to build a drug-free society.

Principal Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, Mrs. Shehla Nigar, stated that this year, various activities will be organized throughout the week under the theme “Drug Free India Campaign – Identity of a Developed India.” She added that all departments have been actively involved in promoting public participation against drug abuse and building a healthy society. During the week, seminars, group discussions, pledges, awareness rallies, and dialogue programs will be organized in schools, colleges, and other educational institutions. The Health Department will disseminate inspirational success stories of drug addicts and organize health camps.

The Women and Child Development Department and the Panchayat and Rural Development Department will organize human chains, pledge programs, and public awareness activities. The Sports and Youth Welfare Department will organize football and hockey competitions and marathons to promote the message of abstinence from drugs among youth. With the support of the Nehru Yuva Kendra (JYK) and various voluntary organizations, district-level activities will include open-mic competitions, cultural programs, folk dances, folk songs, speeches, group discussions, distribution of drug-free pledges, and posters at public places. In this regard, at a program held today at the Mahanadi Bhawan Secretariat, Principal Secretary Mrs. Shahla Nigar administered the drug-free pledge to officers and employees of the Social Welfare Department. She called on everyone to actively contribute to the campaign to spread awareness against drug abuse and make society drug-free. Through programs organized during Drug-Free India Week, an environment of public awareness will be created across the state, inspiring youth to adopt positive life values ​​and a healthy lifestyle.
