The primary objective of this scheme, which began operation on January 1, 2017, is to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women and lactating mothers by providing them financial assistance. Under the Matri Vandana Yojana in Chhattisgarh, a grant of ₹5,000 is provided upon the birth of the first live child. To prevent female foeticide and encourage the birth of girls, a special grant of ₹6,000 is provided upon the birth of a second daughter. This amount is directly linked to essential health procedures such as prenatal check-ups, vaccinations, and institutional delivery.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and the guidance of Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, the state has scaled new heights. Anganwadi workers, Mitanins, and field staff from the Health Department have ensured door-to-door registration to reach remote tribal areas.

  • Success figures- Chhattisgarh tops the country

Chhattisgarh has secured the first position in the country in effective use of digital monitoring and transparent payment system (DBT). The graph of achievements is as follows. Increasing registration: 1 lakh 75 thousand 797 women were registered in the year 2023-24, which increased to 2 lakh 19 thousand 012 in 2024-25. By registering 2 lakh 04 thousand 138 women in the financial year 2025-26 (till February), the state has achieved the target of 93.3 percent. Chhattisgarh is at the forefront in the country with a rate of 83.87 percent in scrutiny of applications and getting approval from the Centre.
