Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the Ken-Betwa link project of national importance would prove to be a milestone in the development of Bundelkhand. The project will bring major changes in irrigation, drinking water and energy sectors in the area. He said that it is the government’s priority to take full care of the interests of the affected and displaced families along with development.
- Officials understand the problems of the affected families by going door to door
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed the Panna and Chhatarpur district administrations to visit the affected villages and understand the real situation and problems of the families. Listen to the difficulties of tribal families with sensitivity and resolve them on priority.
- Displaced families will benefit from the scheme
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the benefit of the eligible schemes of the government should be delivered to the displaced families at their homes. Where the families have taken up residence in the new location, a solid action plan should be prepared for necessary basic facilities including schools, anganwadis, health centers, community buildings.
- Prompt payment of additional amount to affected people of Runzh-Mazgaon project
Chief Minister Dr. Panna Ki Runj-Mazgaon directed to pay the affected people the additional amount sanctioned in the project. The age of the affected persons, whose age documents are not available, should be determined on the basis of medical examination.
- Directs regular monitoring of projects and better coordination among departments
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat to carry out regular monitoring of the project with high priority and ensure better coordination between the concerned departments.
- Communicate the benefits of the project to people through public tours and awareness tours
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav asked the officials to inform the people about the benefits of the project through Jan Choupal and awareness tours in the affected areas. People’s apprehensions and problems should be resolved by organizing positive activities at the grassroots level.
- Increased irrigation capacity in 8.11 lakh hectares, more than 44 lakh people will get drinking water
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that upon completion of the project, the irrigation capacity will increase in about 8.11 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh and more than 44 lakh people will get the benefit of drinking water facility. It is also proposed to generate 103 MW of hydropower and 27 MW of solar power under the project. 1,382 villages of Panna, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwadi, Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Shivpuri and Datia districts of Bundelkhand and Central India are expected to get direct benefits. There are a total of 5,039 project affected families in Chhatarpur and Panna districts. These include 1,321 families of Panna district and 3,718 families of Chhatarpur district. All affected families have opted for rehabilitation and resettlement special package.
- Affected families will join the mainstream of development with dignified rehabilitation
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Ken-Betwa link project is not just a water resource development scheme, but a means of economic and social change in Bundelkhand. It is the government’s effort to rehabilitate the project-affected families in a dignified manner and integrate them into the mainstream of development. In the meeting, Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri Sandeep Yadav gave a presentation on the progress of the project.
Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat joined the review meeting virtually. Minister of State for Forest and Environment Shri Dilip Ahirwar, MP Shri V.D. Sharma, Panna, Chhatarpur, Bijawar, Rajnagar MLA and other public representatives were present.
Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal, Secretary (Chief Minister) Dr. Sudam Khade, Sagar Commissioner Anil Suchari and other officers were present.
