Work on the water treatment plant for the Kaneri Multi-Village Water Supply Scheme, which is being prepared to supply clean and safe drinking water to 27 villages under the Jal Jeevan Mission, is now in its final stages. Balod Collector, Divya Umesh Mishra, inspected the ongoing water treatment plant in Dhanora village of the Gurur development block and directed for its speedy completion. She urged the government to expedite the completion of all segments of the Kaneri Multi-Village Water Supply Scheme and commence water supply.
Collector Mishra thoroughly inspected the state-of-the-art water treatment plant under construction under the Kaneri Group Water Supply Scheme and took stock of the facilities. She inspected the plant’s raw water intake, sedimentation, filtration, and chlorination units. She also sought detailed information from Public Health Engineering Department officials present on the site regarding the plant’s treatment capacity, technical specifications, and water quality testing systems.
He stated that the water supplied to villagers through the Kaneri Group Water Supply Scheme must be completely pure and up to standard. Any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. He directed that the remaining technical and finishing work on the plant be completed on a war footing and that drinking water supply be resumed as soon as possible, so that people can benefit from the scheme as soon as possible.
Officials from the Public Health Engineering Department stated that the Kaneri Group Water Supply Scheme will ensure regular and pure drinking water supply through household tap connections in 27 villages in the area. Its launch will permanently relieve villagers of the water shortages they face during the summer. Women, in particular, will no longer have to travel far for water.
