From kitchen to business, 12 women of Gayatri group have written a new story of success through tent house.

  • Gayatri Women Self-Help Group becomes an example of self-reliance and empowerment

Rural women are living examples of self-reliance and empowerment, transforming their destinies by joining self-help groups and government schemes. Their struggles demonstrate that self-reliance not only improves their economic status but also gives them social respect and decision-making power. Women leaving their homes to become entrepreneurs present a perfect example of a self-reliant India. 

The women of Karra village (H.), located in the Sipat area of ​​Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh, have proven that if one’s resolve is strong, success follows. By joining the Bihan Yojana, the women of the Gayatri Mahila Self-Help Group, through collective efforts and strong self-confidence, have not only achieved economic independence but also presented a living example of empowerment to society. These examples prove that through skill development, self-confidence, and financial independence, women are strengthening not only their families but also society. 

A confluence of skilled leadership and government schemes:
This 12-member group, led by Mrs. Gauri Yadav (President) and Mrs. Pancho Shrivas (Secretary), received support from government schemes. A loan of Rs. 6 lakh from the Bihan Yojana and a loan of Rs. 4 lakh from the Integrated Women and Child Development Department. With a total investment of Rs. 10 lakh, the women launched their enterprise called “Shri Ram Tent House.”

Expansion and Services – A Successful Business Model
Started on Ram Navami in 2025, this business has grown to a large scale today. The group currently has the following resources: a 30×30-foot stage, a large 60×120-foot pandal, 60 tables, 500 chairs, and 10 jumbo coolers. Tents and utensils are supplied for wedding ceremonies, social gatherings, condolence meetings, and government camps (such as Good Governance Festival and Public Problem Resolution Camps).

Service along with profit and 
the group running the utensils bank is not limited to business only, but is also fulfilling its social responsibility very well. Utensils are provided free of cost to poor and needy families for social work. Utensil bank is being operated for the villagers, where material is available at very low rates. By joining the Bihan Yojana, the women of Gayatri Mahila Self-Help Group have written a new chapter of economic self-reliance by taking the tent house service to every village through collective efforts and strong self-confidence.

Annual income reaches Rs 10 lakh
As a result of better management and hard work, the group’s annual income has now reached close to Rs 10 lakh. Active participation in the local administration’s programs has increased both their income and reputation. The women of the group have expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and the state government for facilitating this path of economic empowerment. Today, these women of Gayatri Mahila Self-Help Group are not only self-reliant, but have also emerged as a source of inspiration for other women in the district.
