International Conference of BRICS Agriculture Working Group to be held in Indore from 9th to 13th June

  • Agriculture ministers, experts, and senior officials from 21 countries will participate in the conference.
  • The conference will be held in two phases and will include a global discussion on agricultural innovations.

The important international conference of the Agriculture Working Group, part of the BRICS Summit 2026, organized by the central government, will be held at the Grand Sheraton Hotel in Indore from June 9th to 13th. Agriculture ministers, senior officials, agricultural scientists, policymakers, and experts from 21 countries will participate in this five-day high-level conference. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan met in Indore on Sunday to review preparations for the conference.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that this conference, being held in Indore, the country’s cleanest city, is a crucial opportunity for the state. The city’s cleanliness, greenery, and beauty should be showcased in an excellent manner to the international delegates. He directed all relevant departments, including the Municipal Corporation, Police Administration, Tourism, Public Works, and Health Department, to work in coordination. The Chief Minister also directed that special cleanliness, attractive decorations, and lighting be ensured at the venues, major roads, and public spaces. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that Madhya Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage, folk art, traditional cuisine, and agricultural innovations be effectively presented during the conference. Special cultural programs, state tours, and exhibitions highlighting agricultural achievements will also be organized for the foreign delegates.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that international-level arrangements should be ensured for the foreign guests coming to the conference. Guides proficient in various languages, including English, Russian, and Turkish, should be deployed at airports and hotels, and they should be given prior training in etiquette and hospitality. He said that guests should be warmly welcomed in accordance with Indian tradition, with turbans, tilaks, and garlands. Instructions were also given to include Madhya Pradesh’s folk culture, traditional dances, and famous cultural performances in the cultural programs. He said that Madhya Pradesh’s cultural identity should be clearly visible in the conference’s branding.

Union Agriculture Minister Shri Chauhan said that representatives from 21 countries, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Uganda, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Colombia, and Indonesia, will participate in the conference. He noted that approximately 68 percent of the world’s farmers live in these countries. He urged that all arrangements for the event be in accordance with international standards.

It was informed at the meeting that the conference will be held in two phases. In the first phase, a three-day meeting of senior officials will be held from June 9th to 11th. Technical discussions will be held on topics such as agricultural innovation, food security, smart agriculture in the context of climate change, agricultural research, agricultural trade, farmer welfare, and sustainable development strategies. Following this, a main meeting of agriculture ministers will be held on June 12th and 13th, where global cooperation and policy-related issues in the agricultural sector will be discussed. A special agriculture-based exhibition will be held in Indore’s rural haat market.

Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, MP Shri Shankar Lalwani, MLAs Shri Madhu Verma, Shri Ramesh Mendola, Mrs. Malini Gaur, Mrs. Usha Thakur, Shri Sumit Mishra, and other public representatives were present at the review meeting. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade, Police Commissioner Shri Santosh Kumar Singh, Collector Shri Shivam Verma, and senior officials from various departments were also present.
