- The decision to start “Medha Chhatra Unnayan Scholarship Yojana” for the children of laborers
in the meeting of the three Shramik Welfare Boards, Minister Shri Patel directed to deliver the benefits of the schemes in a timely and transparent manner.
Providing social security, punishment, health, housing and dignified life to the workers and their families is the highest priority of the state government. The benefits of all schemes related to labor welfare reach the eligible beneficiaries in a timely and transparent manner. Panchayat and Rural Development and Labor Minister Shri Prahlad Singh Patel gave this directive during an important meeting of Madhya Pradesh Unorganized Urban and Rural Workers Welfare Board, Madhya Pradesh Labor Welfare Board and Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
Minister Shri Patel said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi there has been an unprecedented change in the field of labor welfare in the country. The new labor codes will provide new protections to workers and strengthen the mechanisms operating for their welfare. He directed the officials to make the labor welfare provisions more effective and practical in accordance with the present conditions, so as to establish better relations between the employees and employers and accelerate industrial development.
“Medha Chhatra Unnayan Scholarship Yojana” for the children of workers on the initiative of Labor Minister Mr. Patel. The big decision to start has been taken. Under this scheme, a scholarship of Rs 7,500 will be given to 100 meritorious students who scored 80 percent or more in Madhya Pradesh and CBSE Board. Apart from this, yoga activities are being conducted in 422 institutions of the region to connect workers with health. Adarsh Shram Kalyan Kendras are being developed in Burhanpur and Narsinghpur, while such centers are also proposed to be established in Indore and Gwalior.
It was informed in the meeting that through new labor codes (Wages, Industrial Relations, Social Security and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules-2026) workers will get more security and facilities. Under this, the minimum wage has been extended to all classes, maternity leave has been ensured for 26 weeks and social security provisions for gig and platform workers have been included. Along with this, a new health care scheme will be launched soon for the treatment of unorganized workers and safe transport arrangements will be made for registered workers.
During the review of the welfare of the construction workers, it was reported that an amount of Rs. 190.84 crores in maternity assistance scheme and Rs. 23.36 lakhs in ex-gratia assistance has not been provided by the Mandal. Also, an amount of over Rs.92.95 crore has been sanctioned under Ayushman Bharat Yojana. In the meeting, it was agreed to conduct security audit of digital platforms and portals and develop mobile applications by adopting technological innovations for better monitoring of schemes. Volunteers will be deployed under ‘Shram Saathi Yojana’ to provide direct assistance to workers. A pilot project of labor and skill based education will also be started in five colleges of Bhopal in accordance with the new education policy.
