To connect farmers in Chhattisgarh with scientific agricultural practices and promote soil health conservation, a one-day awareness workshop on “Soil Health and Balanced Fertilizer Use” was organized at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jashpur. A joint meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the year 2026 was also held on this occasion, attended by scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras from Jashpur, Raigarh, Korba, and Janjgir-Champa districts.
Experts emphasized the importance of soil testing, explaining that test-based fertilizer use not only increases crop production but also preserves soil fertility over the long term. Farmers were provided with detailed information on the use and benefits of soil health cards.

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of organic fertilizers, green manures, and micronutrients, along with the balanced use of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potash. The workshop also raised awareness about the adverse effects of indiscriminate fertilizer use. Information on modern fertilizer management techniques was shared through PPT presentations and hands-on demonstrations, enabling farmers to achieve improved production and reduce costs.
At the Scientific Advisory Committee meeting, experts from various districts discussed regional agricultural challenges, research needs, and future action plans in detail. Public representatives, agricultural scientists, officials, and progressive farmers actively participated in the program.
The farmers and officials present praised the initiative as extremely useful, noting that such training programs play a crucial role in connecting farmers with new technologies and promoting sustainable development in the agricultural sector. The organizers expressed their commitment to organizing such joint programs in the future.
