Timely payment is often a major concern for sugarcane farmers. However, the Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory in Kabirdham district has set a national example in this regard. For the second consecutive year, the factory has set a new record in the country’s cooperative sugar industry by paying 100% of the full support price (FRP) and additional recovery amount to farmers in June. This is why this factory has become not only a hub for sugar production, but also a symbol of farmers’ trust and the success of cooperatives.
At a ceremony held on Sunday in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Rs 29.83 crore was transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts. This includes Rs 6.91 crore of FRP balance and Rs 22.92 crore of additional recovery amount. With this, a total payment of Rs 107.10 crore has been completed to farmers for the 2025-26 crushing season.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that this achievement is not just a financial payment, but a testament to the strong trust between farmers and the cooperative system. He said that the Bhoramdev Sugar Factory is not owned by any one person, but by thousands of farmers. He urged farmers to produce and supply more sugarcane, and to achieve the target of crushing more than four lakh metric tons in the upcoming season.

The Bhoramdev Sugar Factory is in the news not only for its timely payments but also for its farmer-friendly innovations. Initiatives such as sugar recovery of over 12 percent for the third consecutive year, participation in sugar distribution at subsidized rates, the ‘Balram Sadan’ farmers’ waiting room, soil testing facilities, pressmud distribution, improved sugarcane seeds and seedlings, and regular training are helping reduce farmers’ costs and increase production. Meanwhile, under the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Shramik Anna Yojana, which operates on the factory premises, workers are being provided food for just five rupees.
The transparent and farmer-centric approach adopted by the Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory under the guidance of Chairman and Collector Gopal Verma has made it one of the country’s leading cooperative sugar factories. Timely payments, modern technology, increased production, and active farmer participation have proven that when cooperatives are strong, not only industries but the entire rural economy moves forward with renewed energy. This is why the Bhoramdev model is becoming an inspiration for other cooperative sugar factories across the country.
