Yoga is a way to connect the soul with the Supreme Soul: A special public awareness programme was organised on International Yoga Day in village Sakhauli.

  • The message of healthy living was given to students and villagers through Rangoli, Quiz and Yoga exercises.

The Central Communications Bureau, Ambikapur, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, organized a special one-day public awareness program on the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day at the Higher Secondary School in village Sakhauli, Ambikapur Block, Surguja district. Students, teachers, and villagers enthusiastically participated in the program, understanding the importance of yoga, and resolved to adopt a healthy lifestyle. School Principal Mrs. Anita Kujur, highlighting the importance of yoga, said that yoga is the most effective medium to balance the body and mind and connect a person with nature and self. She said that yoga not only improves physical health, but also strengthens mental health by reducing stress and anxiety.

Mr. Himanshu Soni, in-charge of Central Communications Bureau, said that Yoga is an invaluable heritage of Indian culture, which provides a person with a healthy body, a calm mind and a positive lifestyle. He said that regular Yoga practice helps in getting rid of physical and mental problems and brings balance and energy in life. During the program, participants were demonstrated and made to practice various Yoga postures and Yoga exercises including Tadasana, Vajrasana, Pawanmuktasana, Halasana, Surya Namaskar, Anulom-Vilom and Bhramari Pranayama. Yoga instructors also gave information about the scientific and practical benefits of Yoga.

Rangoli competitions, quizzes, and other competitions were organized to raise awareness about yoga. Participants who excelled in the competitions were honored with prizes. Complex coordinator Mr. Salim Khan, teachers Mr. Vijaykant Tiwari, Mr. Premshankar Chaudhary, Mr. Anwar Hussain, Mr. Rajesh Yadav, Mr. Ranveer Kerketta, students, and a large number of villagers were present. The program inspired villagers and students to incorporate yoga into their daily lives, adopt a healthy and balanced lifestyle, and increase awareness about yoga in society.
