  • Became self-reliant by earning up to 30 thousand rupees every month from farming, animal husbandry and self-employment.
  • Government schemes and self-confidence changed her life, now she has become an inspiration for other women.

Government schemes aimed at empowering rural women financially and making them self-reliant are bringing positive change in the state. Mrs. Manju Sayyal, a resident of Santoshinagar Gram Panchayat in Balrampur district, has emerged as an inspiring example. Once struggling with limited resources and financial constraints, Mrs. Manju has now earned a reputation as “Lakhpati Didi,” earning approximately 30,000 rupees per month through farming, animal husbandry, dairy farming, and vegetable farming.

After joining the Jai Maa Lakshmi Self-Help Group, Mrs. Manju’s life began to change. The financial support and encouragement she received from the group gave her the confidence to pursue self-employment. She took a loan from the group and began farming and animal husbandry. Despite initial difficulties, Mrs. Manju continued to work hard and persevere, and today she is recognized as a successful female entrepreneur in the village.

Mrs. Manju grows vegetables in her fields and earns additional income by selling them in the market every day. Her hard work and management skills have strengthened her family’s financial situation. Now, she plans to expand her business and open a grocery store. Government schemes have also played an important role in modernizing and facilitating farming. The Agriculture Department provided her with an irrigation pump, which made timely irrigation possible. Furthermore, receiving a Kisan Credit Card provided financial assistance and convenience for agricultural work.

Mrs. Manju received a permanent house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), fulfilling her dream of a secure home. The construction of a toilet under the Swachh Bharat Mission improved cleanliness and convenience within the home, while regular access to food grains through a ration card also provided financial relief to the family.

Mrs. Manju Sayyal explains that joining a self-help group proved to be the most important decision of her life. Today, she is not only self-reliant, but also inspires other women in the village to join the group and adopt self-employment and become self-reliant. Her success proves that with opportunity, benefits from programs, and strong willpower, rural women can also set new examples of economic empowerment.
