- Getting a digital hearing aid and employment has brought smiles, now she will fulfill her dream of social service by pursuing a PhD.
Dreams have no voice, but the courage to fulfill them is bigger than any difficulty. Ms. Pooja Sahu, who is 75 percent hearing impaired and lives in the slum of Sarabhara Smriti Vatika, Irrigation Colony, Ward No. 1, Gaurela, Pendra-Marwahi district, has proved through her struggle, hard work and self-confidence that no matter how difficult the circumstances are, strong willpower can take a person to his destination.
Despite financial constraints, hearing difficulties, and limited resources, Ms. Pooja refused to give up. She continued her studies and kept her dream of pursuing higher education alive by passing the NET exam. Her goal is to pursue a PhD and make a name for herself in the fields of education and social service. However, her hearing problems and financial difficulties were significant obstacles in her path.
Hoping to give new strength to her dreams, Ms. Pooja reached out to the Social Welfare Department. Understanding her situation and struggle, the District Office of the Social Welfare Department, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, provided her with two digital hearing aids on June 26, 2026. Upon receiving the hearing aids, Ms. Pooja’s face clearly glowed with confidence and joy. Now, she will be able to pursue her studies, communication, and research in a more effective manner.

The Social Welfare Department, demonstrating sensitivity, also took a significant initiative to empower Ms. Pooja. She has been appointed as a social worker at the non-governmental social service organization “Pragati Seva Sanstha,” where she will receive a monthly honorarium of 10,000 rupees. This employment will provide her with financial support, as well as a new source of self-respect and self-reliance.
An emotional Ms. Pooja Sahu expressed her gratitude to the Social Welfare Department and the district administration, saying that this support was like a new lease on life for her. She added that she now wants to fulfill her dreams and become an inspiration for other disabled people in society.
