- Positive discussion held in New Delhi with Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, regarding a 200-bed ESIC hospital
- Healthcare services in Balodabazar’s industrial zone set for imminent expansion
Efforts to strengthen the social and health security of workers alongside the industrial revolution in Chhattisgarh are consistently yielding results. In this context, Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma has taken a significant initiative to address the long-standing healthcare needs of thousands of laborers who toil day and night in Balodabazar’s vast cement, power, and steel plants, as well as in numerous small and medium-scale industries and other establishments.
In Balodabazar district—home to a high concentration of cement, power, and steel factories—workers previously had to travel to other major districts for advanced treatment during serious illnesses or accidents; in emergencies, this distance often proved fatal. To resolve this critical practical issue, Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma held discussions today in New Delhi with the Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.
During the meeting, a proposal to establish a fully equipped, 200-bed ESIC hospital in Balodabazar was prominently presented. The Union Minister assured that this sensitive issue of public interest would be considered with great seriousness, paving the way for the local population to soon receive the gift of a modern hospital.
- Robust social security framework reflected in the data
Currently, 17,942 registered employees are working in Balodabazar district, while 18,308 insured individuals are directly benefiting from social security schemes. This high number of insured persons demonstrates that the benefits of this safety net extend beyond the workers themselves to their entire families.
It is noteworthy that, according to data from the state of Chhattisgarh as of March 31, 2025, a total of 1,566,430 employees are registered with the ESIC, comprising 627,260 insured men and 79,237 insured women. A total of 37,283 employers are registered under the ESIC in the state, of which 13,426 are actively making contributions.
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) system provides workers not only with medical treatment but also with financial support during illness, maternity, and workplace accidents. The construction of a 200-bed hospital in Balodabazar—realized through the meaningful initiative of Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma—will not only ensure timely, quality medical care but also further strengthen the sense of security and confidence among the organized workforce across the state.
