An awareness program was organized at the Government Higher Secondary School, Parshurampur, located in the Ramanujnagar development block of Surajpur district, as part of the “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” campaign, aimed at promoting the education, safety, and empowerment of girls in the state. Students were informed about girls’ rights, laws related to women and child protection, government schemes, and helpline services.
Organized under the direction of Collector Mrs. Rena Jamil, this program also included essay and slogan writing competitions for students. Students who excelled in the competition were encouraged by awarding them first, second, and third prizes.
During the awareness session, students were informed about important topics such as domestic violence, women’s harassment, menstrual hygiene, and child marriage. Informing them about the social and personal consequences of child marriage, students were encouraged to remain vigilant and spread the word through relevant media to prevent child marriage.
During the program, students were informed about the helpline numbers 1098, 181, 112, and 1930. They also explained the process for seeking assistance and filing complaints through these services in case of emergencies, women and child safety, domestic violence, or cybercrime.
On this occasion, information was provided about various schemes and safety laws for women and girls, including the Noni Suraksha Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Mahtari Vandan Yojana, and Sakhi One Stop Center. Students were also made aware of measures to prevent cybercrime.
Career counseling was also provided during the program. Experts encouraged students to set future goals based on their interests and abilities, stay informed about higher education and employment opportunities, and strive for a better career. Awareness brochures were also distributed during the program.
Financial literacy expert Ms. Farzana from Women Empowerment Hub of Women and Child Development Department, gender expert Mrs. Poonam Rajwade, Roy Singh from Cyber Cell, school principal Mr. Chandra Vijay Singh, Mr. Narendra Kumar Shukla, Mrs. Shweta, Mrs. Mithila Rajwade, Mr. Bal Sai Chakradhar along with teachers and a large number of students were present in the program.
