- Instructions issued to benefit eligible beneficiaries from pension schemes, emphasis on provision of smart TVs and digital learning material in Anganwadi centres
Bastar Commissioner Mr. Doman Singh held a division-level review meeting with officials from the Social Welfare and Women and Child Development departments via video conferencing on Thursday. He directed the District Magistrate to survey the disabled in each Gram Panchayat and provide prosthetic limbs and assistive devices according to their needs. He also called for special attention to ensuring that eligible disabled individuals receive the benefits of pension schemes.
Commissioner Mr. Singh said that camps should be organized at the cluster or block level to provide prosthetic limbs and assistive devices to persons with disabilities. Previously provided prosthetic devices should also be inspected and improvements or modifications made as needed to ensure they are fully useful.
He directed the identification of eligible beneficiaries each month to ensure that eligible elderly and women receive benefits under the Social Assistance Program. He emphasized the need to regularly link eligible beneficiaries to designated pension schemes.
- Instructions to ensure necessary facilities in Anganwadi centres
At the meeting, the Commissioner directed officials of the Women and Child Development Department to ensure adequate availability of integrated child development services to targeted children and mothers at Anganwadi centers. He urged special attention to the availability of essential materials at Anganwadi centers. To achieve this, he emphasized ensuring necessary arrangements at the district level, as well as at the village panchayat level, for various items.
The Commissioner said that positive and innovative efforts should be made to connect the children coming to Anganwadi centres with pre-school primary education. For this, he directed to arrange smart televisions in Anganwadi centres and to prepare digital learning material for children and provide education in an interesting and easy manner. He said that developing interest in learning in children at the primary level will provide a strong foundation for their educational development. The Commissioner directed to complete the recruitment process for the vacant posts of Anganwadi worker and assistant in Anganwadi centres within the time limit. He said that a report of the said recruitment process should be submitted by the end of the month so that a detailed review of the progress of the recruitment process can be done in the next month.
Deputy Commissioner Geeta Raisth, along with divisional and district-level officials from the Social Welfare and Women and Child Development departments, were present at the meeting.
